Meet Mike
Mike Murray is a lifelong member of the Fond du Lac community, born in Cloquet and living in Sawyer since 1994. With decades of experience in construction, project management, and community leadership, Mike brings hands-on expertise and a deep commitment to Tribal values. He has dedicated his life to strengthening the Band through housing projects, economic development, and service on Tribal boards.
Guided by the wisdom of elders and a strong sense of ethics, Mike leads with honesty, integrity, and a passion for creating opportunities that benefit every member of the community.
"I bring a lifetime of work ethic, problem-solving, and commitment. This role is about contributing to solutions, not just being ‘better.’ Having been a division director for the development corporation, I understand how our Tribe and businesses operate."

Community Services
Mike believes every member of the Band should have access to essential services that support health, wellness, and opportunity. His focus is on programs that strengthen the community while respecting Tribal traditions.
Open Communication
Open, honest communication is key to strong leadership. Mike listens to Tribal members, engages directly with the community, and ensures that every voice is heard in decisions that impact District 2.
Economic Development
Mike is committed to the Fond du Lac Band. By supporting Tribal businesses and fostering meaningful employment, he aims to build long-term prosperity that benefits the community, while also honoring cultural values.
Housing
Mike believes that every member of the Band deserves safe, affordable, and sustainable housing. Drawing on decades of experience in housing construction and project management, he will work to ensure that homes meet the practical needs of families while honoring the community’s traditions and values.
Tribal Enrollment
Mike believes that decisions about Tribal enrollment should be made at the Tribal level to include all band members. He will work to be a strong voice for the Band, ensuring due diligence in research and impact is considered.
